A little side project however, has been my wrapping station. I had found my inspiration and pinned it to my Pinterest board, and hunted local shops for the bits and pieces that I needed to make it a reality. One might say I am 'wrapped' with the outcome! Let's take a closer look...
THE WRAPPING PAPER ROLLS
To create this part of the station, I used 1 x spice rack and 1 x towel rail. The towel rail holds the rolls in place so that they stand upright. I don't usually buy many rolls of paper, so I have also had room to put my piniata stick, roll of non-slip drawer liner and a rolled up paper outline of my sister (that my nephew drew!).
THE RIBBON
I have one rack for large curling ribbon rolls, and two for fabric ribbon. It is great to be able to see all of the colours, patterns and sizes that I have at a glance. The larger rolls of fabric ribbon actually also roll as you pull out ribbon, which is really handy too!
I also have some little gift boxes stored here for now, as I have extra space on the second row. This is handy, as I am sure to add to my collection over coming years. And in case you were wondering, I keep my ribbon scraps with my scrapbooking supplies.
THE PAPER
This 'Handy Basket' is just the perfect size for holding my tissue paper and folded gift wrap. I couldn't believe how well they fit in the space! (I also couldn't believe how much tissue paper I had! Eek! Goes to show that if you can't see something, you just buy more - unnecessarily.)
THE GIFT BAGS
Another 'Handy Basket' down the bottom holds an assortment of gift bags that I have. I lay the long bags on their side, so that they would fit.
I spent quite some time working out the best configuration for the baskets, ensuring that I made the most of every inch of the door from the top to the bottom. To do this, I taped the baskets to the door, and put samples of paper, ribbon, gift bags, etc in the baskets, to ensure that I had enough space to not only fit the goodies in, but to make sure that I could comfortably get them in and out. It needs to function just as great as it looks ;)
Here is a photo of the tags from the baskets that I used.
I bought everything from Mitre 10 Mega, and the grand total of supplies cost less than $40. For how organised this is, and the bonus space that I have saved from the multitude of boxes that used to hold all of these bits and pieces, which are now empty, it was definitely worth the small of investment of time and money to bring this wonderful project to fruition!
Looks great Cass! Very organised.
